Once you’re at the homes, a car makes the rest of your trip easier, but it isn’t required. Piedmont and the Alberta Arts District are walkable to each other, and downtown Portland is the same ten-minute drive as the airport, so day trips into the city don’t eat your whole day in transit.
Pack for weather that changes its mind — a light rain layer covers you most of the year, even in summer, and comfortable walking shoes matter more than anything else on the list. If you’re visiting between May and October, you’ll want an evening layer even on warm days.
On timing: give yourself a buffer on the drive between the airport and Piedmont if you’re arriving during weekday rush hour, and know that the City of Portland requires a full name and address on file for every guest at larger listings — it takes a minute at booking and keeps everything compliant, so don’t skip that step.
